Center for Student Success and Engagement

Join us to support a holistic approach to student success and wellbeing.

At the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine, we are committed to the success of our students and training tomorrow’s professionals. Our holistic educational approach means our graduates are well-rounded and ready to meaningfully serve in their communities.

The Center for Student Engagement and Success will be a central hub open to all students to encourage collaboration and provide a supportive space to build an inclusive community. Our students need shared community space focused on them. They need study spaces that are not dispersed and few and far between. They need access to healthy snacks, and student clubs need dedicated conference rooms to host meetings and seminars. We want our alumni to have consistent access to our students and programs - we envision peer tutoring and alumni mentoring taking place in this dedicated space.

We were early adopters for wrap-around services including counseling and wellness and we have staff focused on building an inclusive community and programming for staff, faculty and students. We will be adding programs in leadership, interprofessional education and financial literacy.

Our need

Today we look to training tomorrow’s professionals and meeting the future needs of veterinary, biomedical sciences, and health careers. Our goals include:

Recruit and retain the best and brightest. Hire faculty and staff to advance leadership training; innovative education; interprofessional practice; financial literacy; and professional development.

Facility remodel. Renovate and modernize existing spaces in Wegner Hall including small and large rooms for alumni engagement, mentoring, student study, student club space, peer tutoring, mental health and wellbeing programming, and financial literacy professional development. The space will be focused on veterinary student success, mental wellbeing, and engagement but will welcome all of our students.

Invest in career development and financial literacy. Build a network of experts to support students in professional development, financial health, and career pathways.

Student recruitment and support. Create fellowships and scholarships, including recruitment scholarships and travel funds.
