Fund For Veterinary Medical Education Innovation

Support Excellence in Veterinary Innovation

Diagnostic Challenges

Diagnostic Challenges are annual multidisciplinary, case-based exercises that began at WSU in 1991 to help students learn in a simulated "real world" setting. During our annual Diagnostic Challenges, students have opportunities to diagnose patients and work with volunteer clients in situations comparable to what they will experience in their own practices. The exercises are conducted collaboratively by instructors from across the veterinary college. Visiting veterinarians, often WSU College of Veterinary Medicine alumni, play the essential roles of case facilitators.

Teaching Academy

Created in 2010, WSU’s Teaching Academy is the first of its kind in veterinary medicine education. The academy supports faculty dedicated to teaching and learning and brings educators together to help integrate common elements in the curriculum. The Teaching Academy helps ensure our faculty teaches with methodologies that provide students with extraordinary learning opportunities. Medical and veterinary educational leaders travel from around the world to provide pioneering training for our teaching staff.

Through your contribution, you become an invaluable partner with the College of Veterinary Medicine’s innovative mission. Discover more about our curriculum and innovative education within the College of Veterinary Medicine.
